I think it’s happening...giving up his nap sigh
« on: January 23, 2019, 20:17:23 pm »
My lo just turned 2.5 and he’s starting to only nap on some days. If his brother or father is home he definitely won’t nap. Usually I can get him to nap when it’s our normal routine just the two of us but even that’s not working these days. It’s getting so stressful because my oldest gets to the bus at 145 so if little one isn’t asleep by 140 I have to get him from his crib and rush over to the bus stop because he’s starting to climb out! But he’s tired delirious all afternoon.

could you try putting him down for a catnap (or APOPing one) instead after you've collected your older one from the bus?

He will never. He just gets more stimulated as the day goes on and tired. It’s awful. He’s climbed out of his crib twice already today and is still awake. Ugh

He actually fell asleep! At 2pm! Took 45 mins to get him to though. He has been waking late in the morning because he’s tired from not napping so I think he’s not ready to nap until later. I wonder what time he’ll go to sleep tonight though.

He slept for 30-35 mins! Ugh. All of that work for a 30 min nap!

it's tough.. but it does sound like perhaps it's not worth you bothering trying to put him down earlier, for both your sakes.  And maybe a 30 min nap is enough for him now?  How did he get on after the nap and with BT?

His behavior was ok although we had to go out but I didn’t see that wild second and third wind come. But bedtime was tricky he always falls asleep quickly on his own but tonight he was awake in his crib until 9 pm! Which he never does. Couldn’t figure that out.

I found with DS1 when he was giving up his nap (& I wanted the down time while DS2 was napping LOL) That my best bet was to give him down time watching a DVD on a portable player on my bed (that was before iPads etc.)   He didn't sleep but the darker room & repetitive DVD was down time (he'd watch the same DVD most days,

I literally just can’t get him to sit still. It’s such a long exhausting day
