5 month old sleep worsening
« on: June 17, 2019, 13:32:14 pm »
Hi!

I was hoping for some support around my now 5 months old recent sleep. She was born a month early so I guess adjusted age 4 months. She still BF every 3-3.5 hours and only wakes up once around the early mornings for a feed and back down. I would say she is an Angel baby. She’s also low birth weight (born at 3lbs) at around the 3% range.

She’s been on easy since around 5 weeks. I also haven’t sleep trained yet. Getting ready to start but not sure when bc her sleep has gone haywire.

She was on a 7-7 EASY for awhile before all of this.

EASY from last couple of days

Saturday:
WU 9:12 (she had a late night because of DS preschool graduation so she was definitely overtired going to bed at 8 after an almost 3 hour A time)
E 9:15
A
S 10:57-2:08 pm (A 1:45)
E 2:10
A
S4:08-4:40 pm (2hrs; wouldn’t resettle)
E 5:15
A
E top up
A bedtime routine
BT 7:02 pm (we aimed for 6:45 but she was resisting sleep; she woke up a half hour afterwards indicating OT)

NW 1:17 (nursed)
NW 5:45- 7:20 am

WU 8:19 am
E 8:20
A
S 10:10-10:46 am (A 1:51; didn’t resettle)
A
E 11 am
S 11:10- 1:35 pm (fell asleep after nursing which isn’t usual for her)
A
E 2:45 pm
A
S 3:38-5:18 pm (A 2:03; woke at 35 mark but took 10 minutes to fall asleep)
E 6 pm
A Bath and routine
E top up
BT 7:14 pm (woke up after only 20 minutes and then again at an hour)

NW 4:30 (BF)

(Got her asleep at 6 then slept until 7 am)

I do realize the weekend was off for her but her bedtime resistance and NW in the first couple of hours after bedtime have been happening for a week now. I had her on A times of 2 hours on a good nap and shaved it to 1.45 when she short napped. She gets fussy around the 1.5-1.75 mark so I was following cues for naps.

Now with all of this I’m clueless if she’s OT or if she needs a bump in A time.

Bumping because she just did a 20 minute nap and she’s getting harder to put down without crying

Edit: she is not going down for her last nap then wakes up overtired

Please I’m losing my mind

Hi! Since you said her adjusted age is 4 months, could it be the 4 month sleep regression? I'm going through that right now (and I wish we had your EASY, it looks great to me haha), and it sounds like you're doing everything right if it was working so well before, but I'm no expert!! I'm sorry I can't be of help. I hope it gets better soon!
