Teething 5.5 mo old only wants to comfort nurse
« on: July 11, 2019, 16:02:15 pm »
Hello!

Today my teething 5.5 month old only wants to comfort nurse for sleep. We don’t do this at all except in a rare occasion when she wasn’t feeling well. I keep trying g to let her then pull out before sleep to avoid associating bf with sleep but then she’s hysterical. Today she’s very irritable. I have a cold myself so I’m also wondering if she’s getting sick.

Looking for any tips on what others would do in this situation?

Honestly, as I learnt not to stress the small stuff, I'd throw the 'it might become a bad habit'  out the window and provide your DD with the comfort she is seeking. As you have a cold, chances are she could have a sore throat and she's telling you what works. Babies and children never do things that aren't motivated by a real need (even if we can't see it) so I'd follow her lead.
From the Mum of teens (and step Grandma) honestly this time is but a blip in their lives and babies who are poor sleepers can become amazing 16yos... You won't raise a 'problem' child by following their lead infact you'll probably raise a good one.

Thank you for the reassurance!

She seems like she’s bothered cold, teething, both maybe.
