Desperate Mum to wean off breastfeeding
« on: March 07, 2021, 15:32:55 pm »
Hi all,

I am hoping I can get some advice, I have been trying to introduce a bottle for my LO. She is 7 months old and quite strong willed!
My mistake that I didn't add a bottle feed so she got used to it so now absolutely refuses to accept one.

I have exclusively breastfed but for various reason would like to introduce formula now.

I am starting with expressed milk, warmed to correct temperature, tried a few teats, different times of day but no avail. Is going cold turkey an option, last resort really.

Can anyone please offer some advice.

Thank you

At 7 months old I'd go straight to trying a cup, my youngest managed one at 5.5months after refusing the bottle and I needed to be away for more than the gap between feeds.
Also at 7months you'd have started on solids so if you need to skip a bf, just offer a solids feed.
Basically at 7months just skip trying a bottle as in many ways they aren't the greatest for teeth anyway so  it's best to drop bottles by 12 months anyway, moving to milk in a sippy cup removes that step. .
