BABY HIGH-CHAIR, PLEASE ADVISE!
« on: June 21, 2005, 13:57:19 pm »
Hi ladies,
I would like to buy a high-chair for my son who is almost 6 months old. However i am not sure which chair or which brand is more practical and easy for both mom and baby. I was recommended by the shop that Stokke high-chair is good. Please advise! Thanks alot!
Regards

BABY HIGH-CHAIR, PLEASE ADVISE!

The stokke tripp-trapp is great but obviously has no tray so you have to feed against a table when you start with finger food. You need to think about where you want to do the feeding. If it's in the kitchen will you have a table? Would you prefer plastic for cleaning? Do you have a place to store it? I have a Svan highchair which is also wooden. It has a removable tray and is fully adjustable and it's been great. Different things work for different people.

Stokke recommendation + tray option

You can buy an ingenius tray for the Stokke Trip Trap in Germany. You can order one for transnational shipment from ebay.de. Search for "Clic-Clac Tisch". It is very stable, easy to put in place and remove, easy to clean. I don't know why it isn't sold everywhere. Realistically, a young baby cannot be parked tableside to eat like an adult. You really MUST face her. The Stokke is sold in some countries (USA) exclusively for non-babies... no baby bar, etc. is available or recommended. However, it's preference. I've found it very well.

I find the Stokke is very good. By allowing the proper plate length under the thighs and a resting/touching place for the feet keeps her from slithering to the edge. In highchairs that are not so adjustable my LO slumps horribly.

Without the cushion option, the Stokke is very straightforward to wipe clean, too. The cushion washes up well. The Stokke also somewhat resembles our own dining chairs, so I welcome it at the table for years to come. It "hides" well.
You're always teaching them *something* ... the question is what.

Love mine.  Well worth the money.  I am a firm believer at eating at the table without the tray - DS has ALWAYS eaten at the table, using adult plates etc, because I think that is what he sees.

I have used it too - taken off the restraining bar, lowered the foot rest and Hey Presto - a chair to sit in when my hairdresser comes round.

Also love it as it looks like a piece of furniture.  It will be with us for years.
