Yesterday Savannah napped in her big girl bed!!  It was a first EVER, and she did GREAT!  So last night I put her to bed in her big girl bed and she did fine, but she awoke at 2:30am and did not want to go back in, she wanted her crib.  Of course it doesn't really bother me (other than lifting her 42lbs in and out of the crib), but I'm wondering if this is just normal, or if your kids just took to the bed without a problem?!?!  Should I get rid of the crib?  She's very big on security, so I'm not feeling the need to push it, but I DO want her in a big girl bed eventually!  She's over 3!
Thanks!!

We got an inflatble bed for trips.  I put it on John's floor so he could get used to it before our trip.  He slept in it for a nap and then wanted it that night.  That was about 6 weeks ago.  Since then he has only wanted his crib 1 or 2 times.  There was no looking back for him.  He still sleeps on it since we haven't gotten a mattress for him yet.

I ordered it from One Step Ahead.  It comes with a small pump so it self inflates.  It was so much easier to pack and use in a hotel room than a pack-n-play would have been.  The funny part is that John hasn't really figured out that he can just get out of it when he wants to.  When he is falling asleep, he will call me and ask me to get him books. And when he wakes up, he calls for me to get him out.     So we haven't had the usual bedtime fight (stay in your bed).

When we transitioned Ewan his bed took the place of the crib so there was no going back.  We do have a guardrail on it and it is in the corner so I am sure that helped to make it feel more like his crib, except with more room.

Thanks for the inflatable mattress link--am going to order one right now! It seems PERFECT for that transition from pack n'play to open bed.

Hope your son never figures out that he can get out of bed himself!!! :)

we bought Maggie a big girl bed for her birthday.  We actually bought her a whole new bedroom set since I am pregnant.  The first night she was excited and went right to sleep in there (she woke up at 5:30 but oh well!!)!!

Then daily it was one excuse after another to sleep in her crib.  I was just not concerned and let her go back and forth.  I would talk with her and try to talk her into sleeping in the big girl bed and within a week or so she is sleeping there for naps and night time.

Since we did not need the crib yet, I just did not worry about it.  It just worked itself out!!
