6 week old not sleeping
« on: July 28, 2005, 20:25:52 pm »
I have been trying to get my six week old daughter to sleep in her crib for her naps and at night. We started this last week. It was going pretty well but for the last few days she can not seem to go for more than 30 minutes of sleep time and it is taking longer to get her to sleep.
She had been starting to sleep for a 5 hour stretch at night last week too but now she is up every 2-3 hours. So I am thinking this is a growth spurt. I planned to switch her to a 2.5 hr schedule and offer both breasts etc. to increase my supply.
Here are my questions...
 - how long do I stay on the 2.5 before going back to 3 hr?
 - she doesn't seem hungry enough to take much from the second breast at her feed but she is hungry at the earlier time - how do I increase my milk supply?
Thanks for any help!

How are things going? Has the growth spurt passed yet?

They are going well. She has really fallen in love with her crib. She goes down really easily for her naps (although they only last for 45 minutes). And is in bed at 8, df at 10, and wakes up between 2-3 and then again at around 5-6. She isn'a as hungry at the second wake up time so I am thinking of trying to use her pacifier to get a few more hours of sleep out of her without feeding.
Thanks for the reply. Oh yeah, the growth spurt is over!
