wake to sleep thoughts?
« on: July 30, 2005, 15:35:13 pm »
hi

i've done wake to sleep successfully in the past.  my question is...  should it be done while lo is in a deep sleep or rem sleeping?

i set my alarm this morning to sort him out (again), and i could hear him fidgeting and sighing and carrying on.  i was hesitant to wake him as he seemed so close to waking anyway.

but, i did it, and he was up and wouldn't go back to sleep, and so we remained staring at each other while he moaned and whinged for 2 hours till 6.45am.

i wonder if i had of gotten up a little earlier and caught him in a deep sleep, if it would have worked better this time.

i don't mind getting up earlier in the day, but this recent pattern has him progressively waking earlier and earlier every day.  and, his naps are starting to get shorter by 10 or so mins too.  so i want to nip it in the bud.

would like to hear any thoughts on this...

I think you need to be waking him while in deep sleep for it to work.  He'll be more willing to go back to sleep since he's still groggy.
