Should I go in?

(1/1)

padawan2002:
Hi.
DS is 14 weeks old.  HE goes to bed about 6:30 - 7:00ish.  I can hear him stirring, grunting for a while in his room at about 2:00-2:30ish.  I've tried to wait to go into him (even 1/2 hour) but he just keeps stirring and doesn't let out a cry.  So I go in after  a while because I suspect he wont settle down and it will result in a feeding anway.

I have heard him stirring at other times at which I let him settle himself down but this one just goes on.. but no cry.

what do you think? Should I go in or let him go on for a longer time? Am I creating a habit?

hi there,

at nighttime i would wait until i heard an actual cry.  at 14 weeks, he's right around the time where he may not need to eat in the night anymore.

chances are, he is just resettling in a light phase of sleep and he may stay asleep if you don't disturb him.

I forgot to mention that he is breastfeed.. only gained 1 pound this month.

He does grab at breast anxiously and devourers it.. so I assumed he was quite hungry.

He does this stirring for 1/2 hour or more. Even in day he doesn't always cry at feeding time just fussing and stirring.

Jaime:
i think i might still be inclined to wait for a cry in the night.  most babies do wake up from time to time at night, babbling or whatever & then just go back to sleep.  both my kids have been known to do this for a half an hour - sometimes longer - and will just go right back to sleep on their own.  if he is hungry, he will cry for you.
