Sometimes my DS yawns 30mins +/- after he wakes up form a good nap, if he is doing this does is ALWAYS mean he is still tired?

TIA

My ds does this after getting up in the morning, and after waking up from naps.  I KNOW he is not still sleepy after sleeping from 8 pm to 7 am (or sometimes a little later).  I think that like me, he sometimes has to get a few yawns out after waking up to actually wake up some more, you know?

i agree with Tammy - i asked about this and was told that too.  it is like if you see the yawn soon afetr waking it is still the waking up process (picture yourself over a coffee some mornings struggling to wake up fully).  if they have been up a while (towards last 1/3 of their "A" time) then you know it is tiredness setting in

my son does this too, but in our case it is sleepiness. When I think it is just a waking yawn and wait a bit to see the next one, it never comes - the overtiredness sets in and the crying starts.   In our case, DS can usually handle 45 mins - he is 8 weeks - of A time, so if it happens at 30 mins, it usually tells me his previous nap may have been less restful for one reason, or that he is having a sleepier day.

Funny, I was wondering the same thing today and saw your post.  Today, my DS kept yawning today 20, 30 minutes after he woke up.  I waited until the "second" yawn to put him to bed because I thought there was no way he could be tired that quickly.  Seems I may have been right since he settled himself to sleep and made it past the 45 minute mark each time-- a miracle in itself.
