Tracy Says to feed every 2 hrs when introducing solids.....?
« on: August 07, 2005, 12:46:10 pm »
In her first book, on the chart on introducing solids, Tracy says to nurse baby, then 2 hrs later feed 2 tsp of pears, ending the feeding with breast or bottle. 2 questions:

#1 Wouldn't that be feeding every 2 hrs??

#2 If DD wakes up at 7am and I nurse her.....2 hrs later would be 9am, time for her nap. How do I give solids when she's tired and ready for bed?

Did I read that page incorrectly? Any thoughts?

Joanne:)

Yes, that would mean you're feeding every 2 hrs. I don't know how old your LO is, but I think Tracy created her plan based on an older baby's schedule, like a 6 mo old who is down to 2 naps (which makes sense, because she leans toward starting solids at 6 mo). The general idea behind her timing is to wait long enough after bf/bottle so that your LO will be hungry. When we started solids at 6 mo, we waited 1 hr after bf for solids, even though Tyler was taking 2 naps. Does that make sense? HTH!
