Christine: JussPress just fixed my problems.  Don't know what it was, but after a few email exchanges with tech support, I tried it again and it's back to normal.  Not sure if yours would be a similar problem.

Heather - can't believe how much hair Kelsey had when she was born!  wow!

Us - well... we may have indeed turned a corner.  after my crazy post yesterday, i finally got luke to go back to sleep.  he slept for an hour and i had to go wake him cause it was after 5pm!  and he went down for bed happily!   :D   course, he woke up chatting at 5am  :x and happily chatted until 6am when i really have to get up.   :(  but i changed his diaper and he went back to sleep until i had to get him up to leave. :D   his naps today weren't great cause today is my long day so he spent it at the sitter's, but he had a catnap when we got home and seems okay now.   :D   i think i'm going a little emoticon crazy, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed that we may finally be getting back to normal!!!  :D  :D  :D

Jamie-I do hope things are improving with Luke.

It's official that bananas are not for Kelsey.  I first tried them as jar food at almost 6 months, and she developed severe diaper rash.  Her ped said it could have been a coinsidence, but I held off until recently.  She's had it with apples and pears in jar food, but when I gave her that piece today, she now how extremely bad diaper rash again.  Does anyone know what is in bananas that is causing this?  I feel so bad for her.  It's raw and red, and I can feel heat coming off from it with my hand just above her bottom.  She just cried so hard when I even came close to the changing table.  I thought the cream would be soothing (we use it at every diaper change regardless), but it hurts, too, as well as her pee of course.  I feel awful b/c I did this to her.

Oh Heather! I feel so bad for Kelsey. I had no idea that bannanas could cause such a reaction, but that has to be it, right? Poor girl! Give her lots of loving! I too was shocked to see how much hair Kelsey had when she was born!

Here are pics of when Leah was born. We only have a few from the hospital becuase of everything that happened with me, people forgot to take pictures of Leah. I hate that, it makes me feel so sad.  I look at all of your hospital pics, especially the breastfeeding ones and I can't wait until next time. I am going to make sure more pictures get taken!!!!!

Christine-the similarities are astounding.  Kelsey had the same "It's A Girl" hat, and the same purple outfit.  She weighed 6,2.  We borrowed premie things from our neighbors who had twin girls.  What did Leah weigh?  What about everyone else?

Maya wasn't a premie, but she only weighed 5lbs, 15oz.  Small babies run in my family - I was only 4lbs, 13oz (and I was 2wks overdue!).  She lost alot of weight, though, before she started gaining.  In the photo I posted she was 5lbs even.

Hi everyone - hope you are having a good week.

I can't keep up with the posts on this thread, it moves too fast for me!

Love everyone's pics, they are so cute!  I am bummed because we don't have good pictures of Ethan in the hospital, almost all are blurry.  I don't understand that, but I wasn't the one taking the pictures, so... but it makes me a bit sad.

As for us, we are settling into our new routine okay.  I have been trying to have Ethan drop the 5 pm catnap, cause half the time he wouldn't sleep anyway (even though he was grouchy and tired).  So, that's been going relatively well.  Every once in a while, we have to have quiet time in his room around 5:30 or 5:45.  That pretty much just consists of me rocking him and him with his pacifier.  But he calms himself down, and just chills out.  It makes it so that we are able to get through dinner!  Although I still take him for a walk every night, cause he loves to be outside.  Otherwise he is mr. cranky.

We are also working on cutting out the df.  We are down to 3 oz. now.  So far so good, no nightwakings.  Although the past few nights he has cried out in the middle of the night, then immediately resettles, then sometimes wakes up again 30 minutes later, same deal.  Don't know what that is all about.

We also moved his crib down one level.  He was sitting up so well on his own now, and crawling all around his crib.  I was just paranoid that one day he would be on the floor.  So, we moved it down, and now he is trying to pull up!  He's not good at it at all, but he likes to try.  He also likes to try to pull up on me when I'm playing on the floor with him.   :D

I'll try and post a couple of pics from when he was born, the few I might have that are not blurry!  He was 8 lbs., 4 ozs.

Heather:  Poor Kelsey!  I don't know what it is but I've run into a few people that have strange allergies like that as well.  Those three are considered some of the least allergenic foods, so don't blame yourself, you had no way of knowing!  If you can pick up some calendula gel tomorrow, that soothes well.  Also try an oatmeal bath and giving her tushie air time tomorrow!

Aaawwwww - the photos are all so cute.  Anyone else starting to want another one already?

Christine - sorry to hear about the choking experience.  Glad everything was ok though.  I went to the park yesterday with my neighbour and her 6 month old dd.  She had given her a small piece of ripe pear and she choked on it.  It was so scarey.  She just couldn't breathe and my neighbour had to lift her up and smack her back.  Took a good few seconds before she coughed it up.  Oooo was horrible. She too was fine though.
If you don't mind me asking, what were you referring to when you said you don't have many hospital photos because of all the stuff that happened with you?  Just curious really.

Heather- Leah was 6'5 and 21 inches long. We were prepared for a 6 pound baby - that's what the doc said she would be – I never got very big. But I didn’t know the 0-3 month stuff wouldn’t fit!!! I remember putting that purple outfit on her and she was drowning in it! I should pull it out again now – I bet it looks tiny now!!  (Hat and Purple Outfit from Walmart?)

Hazel- You weren’t around when I shared my lovely labor story. Basically I started Hemorrhaging right after Leah was born and they couldn’t get me to stop. They performed a DNC on me and that didn’t work. Then I had to be transferred to a larger hospital where they pumped 6 or 7? Pints of blood into me and lots of meds and performed another DNC. They finally got me to stop bleeding. They have no idea why this happened. They even called in some major specialists. I lost a TON of blood. So, who knows what will happen next time? The sad part was I held Leah for maybe 5 minutes right after she was born.  :( Then they didn’t transfer her with me – they were too concerned about me. So I had her at 6am Fri morning and didn’t see her again till 10 pm Sat night. Then she wouldn’t latch on after having bottles for two days.  :(

US: AP, AP, AP!!!!!!!!!!!   How do you not do AP when your LO is sick? Leah has a nasty cold – stuffed up nose and bad cough. I finally brought her into bed with us at 2 am because she only wanted to be held and I was exhausted. She still didn’t sleep well. Plus I had to feed her in the middle of the night because she literally threw up her supper, so I figured she was hungry. What do you do when your LO is sick? Every time I put her back down in the crib she would cry this sad whining cry till I picked her back up.  :(

Christine - you poor poor thing.  Makes me realise I need to stop feeling sorry for myself that I had to have a section.  Things could have been a whole lot worse.  Do they know now what caused the bleeding?  It's weird isn't it how we have the perfect birth experience all planned out beforehand but then things don't always go to plan.  I sooooo didn't want a section but then after 23 hours of labour and little progress I wasn't gonna argue with the dr offering one!  I just remember the first night (he was born at 6.30pm).  I was so sore and couldn't really move.  Every time Daniel cried I just wanted to pick him up and cuddle him but I had to ring for a nurse and wait for her to come and pass him to me.  To make things worse they had sent my hubby home at about 9pm as visiting hours were up    He's a daddy of like 2.5 hours and they send him away.  Grrrrrrr.  All's forgiven and (almost!) forgotten now though.

Hazel- I would be irrate if the hospital made DH leave!!!!! He stayed with me, sleeping on the couch. You have a right to feel sad. I never had PPD, but I did have a bad case of the Baby Blues. For a few weeks I cried becuase I wanted to go back and have a do-over! I wanted the birth to go as I had planned. I didn't even get any visitors (other than immediate family) becuase they transferred me to a hospital that was two hours from home. Next time, right?!?!?! Hmmm, not so sure I'm ready yet. Actually, becuase of everthing that happened we were told to wait three years. So you will all probobly have new babes before me!

Hi girls!
As usual I have been MIA and am leaving to San Francisco for DH's conference this afternoon. Have to do the last minute packing but thought that I'll post a few lines atleast. We have been having bad naps again. I guess it is time for us to increase the A time again. Also, Diya is taking the last nap as the longest just like what happened to a few of you. After I get back from the trip on tuesday night, we'll start changing all the A times and see. All the newborn pics are cute and I'll post Diya's later!
Diya only wants to eat our food with salt and spices. She wants them soft too. If I put less salt in our food, she refuses to eat. Please tell me what I shoud do.
Deborah: That is a cute pic of Maya with the bear before and after. I can't believe she was as small as the bear.
Branwen: We'll miss you very badly! I always looked forward to read about you and Eirwen. I'll PM you when I get back from the trip.
Heather: Don't blame yourself about the diaper rash. Like what Julie said, bananas are the least allergenic food. I have been reading about your bad days too. Off late, because of our solids battle, I am getting upset with Diya easily too.
Christine: That is scary about the choking incident
Julieb: That is a cute avatar
Tammy: That is a cute pic of Ethan.
Hazel: I always feel bad the c-section too.
Michelle: Cold and teething always go hand in hand and they terrorize us. Hang in there and it will get better. We never had a routine at that time but got back to it after they were over.
All the others who posted in the previous pages: Will come back from the trip and catch up with you!

Heather - Luke was 7-14 when he was born... and 21 (?) inches... i know i wrote it down so i wouldn't forget it but darned if i know where it is now.  to me he looked HUGE!

Hazel - they made your dh leave the hospital?!  even though he was your dh???  how rotten for you!

Christine - both my kids want to snuggle a LOT when they're sick too.  so during the day i try & get in as much cuddle time as possible so they'll sleep when it's time.  there were a couple times when jaina had to sleep in her bouncy seat (that time it turned out she had bronchiolitis  ), and i have elevated luke's mattress a few times to help with the breathing.  i also try to make sure they're hydrated - liquids become much more important since they don't have as much of an appetite anyhow.

well, 45 minutes & luke's still asleep.  fingers crossed!  :D

oooh I cannot believe how cute all our babies was (and still is!!)

Things have been crazy with naps as I mentioned before ... the weighted blankie helped a little with the wind-down but is not doing anything to extend naps - and THEN - today I had an appointment we had to leave for at 9:15 am ... put DD to bed at 8:00 (she woke and fed at 6:00!!) and she slept and slept and slept!! So I finally HAD to wake her (and really wake!!! her) at 9:30. and again this afternoon ... she just slept and slept!
So I am hoping tomorrow will be the same ... oh I hope :)
through all of this she has cut her first tooth - bottom left - I think ... she doesn't want me to fiddle to much. the front right is also starting to come through so will see what tomorrow brings.
Lise pulled herself up to standing on my small ottoman ... I better start thinking of putting the cot lower again!
Cutting out DF is going OK - I am taking it a little slower than the book - just because I love the snuggle I otherwise don't get from my spirited one!
Schae I am glad you have some warmer weather in Jo'burg - us in Cape Town have not had much warmth!! Went to swimming lessons on Tuesday in a winter rainy day (luckily it is indoors!!) How is job stuff going?
Christine ooh goodness - I don't know if I would cope! You are a star!! I am also VERY nervous of this finger food thing. Lise just turned 7mths so I am not in a very big hurry ... she is eating some teething biscuits but forces out the "bits" with her tongue - she doesn't like to many bits and pieces. I bought a very cool food thingy today - a small mesh bag attached to a ring that attach to a handle. You freeze bits of fruit and then put it in the mesh bag and create a ice cold teether and healthy snack to without having to worry about choking - this just helps them "practice" chewing. Will try it tomorrow
Heather I hope Kelsey is better - I have never heard of bananas and allergies so DON"T beat yourself up about it!!
