dilemma!

last week, megs two naps started to get shorter.....like between 45min-1hr 15min.  a few days later she started walking and at the same time realized she could stand in her crib and also started fighting me on the second nap. i would have to lay her down about 20 times anf for over 30 min before she would go to sleep.
At this time nap number two was falling at about 3-3:30pm. bed is at 7pm.
b/c i was so tired of her standing up and it taking 45min at nap #2 and bedtime for her to go to sleep, i put her on one nap.
so the last few days, she's been sleeping 13-14 hrs at night instead of 12 and taking one nap between 1-3pm. however yesterday was only 1.5 hrs. NOT ENOUGH> (put the positive is the is so tired at nap and bedtime she is not standing up:))
my dilemma is this...do i go back to two naps...she is ONLY 10.5 mo's old. will goign to one nap now mean she will quit naps all together at a younger age? and how do i extend her one nap to 2-2.5 hrs?

i'm worried if i keep doing this and the one nap stays at 1.5 hrs whcih is NOT enough, i will not be able to go back to two~
help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it should be a phase i remember gina doing that and i had said something to wendy~katelyns mom and she said that katelyn did the same thing and she posted on it and it seems that 10 months is the time they waiver a bit..

gina is now down to one nap.. 12 months but it is a three hour nap   so dont worry to much

Hi there,
Yes 10 months seems to be a sticky time for naps, a few of us on the thread 2 to 1 and what happens to naps are going through this at the moment. We are doing a short morning nap, by choice which gives us the long mid day one, its been working for the last few days.

Tyler did the same thing off and on from 10-12 mo. We just stayed consistent and went with the flow as best we could. If she's ready to stick with 1 nap, it will probably lengthen on its own or her body will get used to the 1.5 hr nap. If it's just a phase and she isn't ready for it, she'll probably start doing stuff that make it impossible to stay on 1 nap. For us, Tyler suddenly started waking super early AND the nap shortened to 45 min because he was soooo overtired. At that point, we had no choice but to go back to 2 naps. We went back and forth quite a bit between 10-12 mo, and he finally transitioned to 1 nap for good at 13 mo. HTH!

Hey Jane!! I KNOW! isn't it crazy...it seems like just yesterday she was killing me with her 45min naps....today she did 2 1/2 hrs~~~ oh bliss! and to think i thought this day would never come...
now i'd give anything to have her be little again and just hold her....
