Cutting down on naps... please advise
« on: August 11, 2005, 22:22:13 pm »
I'm really confused about how to go from the one nap every 3-hour period Tracy recommends for newborns to the three 1 1/2 hour naps per day she recommends for one- to three-month-olds. Do you just start skipping some of the naps and do EAEASY? ??

Also -- how have some of you gotten past the 45-minute REM cycle wake-up? I've heard that some people go in and shush-pat or otherwise comfort the baby at 35 or 40 minutes, but my baby isn't that predictable. Sometimes she doesn't make it to 30 minutes, other times she makes it 55 and then wakes up. Tips on extending naptimes would be appreciated.

Bumping this up for you because I'm wondering the same thing.  I've got a 9 week old and I'm still putting him down for a nap after every activity time following a feed.  This would be about 6 or 7 times a day, and he's starting to wake early from them.  I was wondering when I need to start taking away naps, or do I continue doing this and for how long.

Somebody???  Anybody???
