freezing?
« on: August 16, 2005, 10:25:07 am »
I am about to start DS on solids tomorrow and have a question about freezing.  I have noticed that many people mention that they give their babies 'cubes' of food.

Does this mean that you freeze the food in ice cube trays ?
If so, then do you transfer the cubes into a covered container once they are frozen or leave them in the trays?

How long can frozen fruit/vegies be left in the freezer?

What foods can/can't be frozen?

Thanks for any advice

Wendy

Hi Wendy,
yes I puree and freeze into icecube trays and then transfer to freezer bags, makes it really easy for distributing portions and also for mixing different fruit and veg. The things I remember off the top of my head that you cant freeze are advocada and banana. This is how long they can stay in the freezer, fruits 6 months, veg 6 months, purees with milk 4-6 weeks, fish 10 weeks, red meat and chicken 10 weeks.
