19 month old get up at 5am!!

My 19 month old son has just gone from being in his cot, to being in his big boys bed!!

The transition was fine, and he loves his big boys bed!!

But for some reason lately he keeps getting up at 5am!! He even knows how to open his bedroom door himself...so at 5am he marches into our room as cheerful as anything!!

I considered putting a gate up on his door, but that would mean being unable to shut his bedroom door...and my son will not sleep unless it is pitch black in his room!!

He goes to bed at 7pm with no problems...he has a 2 hour nap during the day with no problems...can anyone shed any light on this new situation??

He has FREEDOM finally!!!    

Maybe when he gets up at 5, you could try putting him back and bed and letting him know it's not time to get up?
You may have to march him back in several times, but I think that might be the best starting point.

Well if my eyes opened and i knew that for the first time I was able to get up and walk around if i wanted to, i would definitely head for the door.   :lol:   what is his routine or schedule.  That would help to know what time he goes to bed and so forth.

well morgan goes to bed at 7pm and usually wakes at 6-6.30am

he had a 2 hour nap during the day, sometimes after breakfast at 9.30am(ish) or after lunch 12.30ish.

we have tried the whole putting him back to bed thing, as he woke up the other night at 3.30am wanting to play!!!

daddy put him back to bed and he stayed there till 5am.

he got up again, but this time at the usual 5am, so i put him back and he just followed me back into our bedroom!!

Is he sleeping to long during the day??
