The one's we eat for breakfast. Just oat circle cereal. Makes a great finger food. Heinz (here anyways) also makes a specific toddler oat cereal called Nutrios. Just has more iron.

HTH!  :D

really?! but they are so hard and small .. no worry of choke hazard?
do you need to mash it in the milk before giving them to baby?

We started about 7 1/2 - 8 months.  Some mums cut them in half for the first while too...  Dd has her two top and two bottom teeth and she likes to stick the cheerios in there and bite it that way. I don't think we'll give it to her in milk until she's older but I have crushed them up and given them with yoghurt and fruit puree...

Cherrios are hard, but they get very soft very quickly in baby's mouth from their saliva.  They're good practice for learning to pick things up and put them in their mouth and gum them.  My dd always loved them.

Cheerios are a favorite food here too.  DS had no problem with them, even without teeth.  He just sucks them and gums them - they dissolve pretty easily.

Funny, I was thinking about posting about cheerios just this morning ....

My ds is addicted to the things.  I've resorted to allowing him to have just cheerios for lunch when he's in an especially bad mood and won't eat anything else.

It was so cute, the other day, he had finished what he was going to eat on his tray (the plate went onto the floor within 5 minutes of supper starting) so I cleaned off his tray.  He started to try to get out of the seat we use for him, so I shook his cheerio bowl (has a lid) and he stopped fussing and waited patiently for me to finish cleaning.  I tried to get up to put the wipe into the garbage and he hit the table with his hands and glared at me as if to say .... "okay mommy, you promised me cheerios, where are they???"  How could you get angry at that??

I don't know what I'd do without good old cheerios.  BTW, he bites them with his 4 front teeth too.

When starting cheerios, I've heard you can soak them in water or formula for a minute to make them softer, and each time make them less soft until they are at their normal consistency right out of the box.  This worked wonderfully for dd.

We started at about 7.5-8mos, and I just tossed a pile on the tray.  It took her a few weeks to get the pincer grasp down, but she was cramming them in her mouth in no time.  We just gave them to her dry, and the only time she had a problem is when she would cram too many in at one time.
