What is my goal for the amount of solids?
« on: August 28, 2005, 16:03:00 pm »
Hello ladies -

My DD is 6 months next week and I've introduced cereal the last couple of weeks.  First week I only gave cereal at breakfast, the second week, at breakfast and lunch, and today will start giving at dinner also. She really likes it and easily eats 3 tablespoons at one sitting. We will probably wait to start fruits and veggies until 6 MO checkup.

What is my goal?  Ultimately over the next few weeks how much solid should my DD be eating.

Thanks!

There isn't really a "goal" for solids amounts, so to speak. Your best indicator is to keep an eye on her bf or bottle intake, since those are still her main sources of nutrition. Her portion sizes may increase a bit over the next few weeks, possibly up to 4 tablespoons or so, but only if she's still getting the right amounts of breastmilk or formula. It can be hard to balance it just right, and it often changes from day to day! HTH!
