Has anyone done PU/PD without a crib

I currently have a futon for DS. He is almost 9 months old. Is it possible to implement PU/ PD on his futon? Or should I just wait a month or two until I can get a crib for him?

I don't see why you couldn't do PU/PD with a futon...good luck!
