Going on holiday with 15mth toddler - a few bottle questions
« on: September 01, 2005, 11:31:54 am »
Any chance someone can help as going on hols tomorrow and last time went abroad was breastfeeding.

Can I stop sterilising bottles now even though I won't have access to a dishwasher?

When I come back do I need to start sterilising again?

When I come back, do I need to keep using boiled water or can I use tap water? (will be using bottled water in France)

Thanks all

Sara

You can stop sterilising bottles from the age of 1 and you can give tap water from the age of 6 months so you can stop sterilising and boiling right now!!

Just take some Anti-bac washing up liquid and your bottle brush and you should be fine. The only thing you need to do if you're not sterilising is make sure you clean the teats really well as milk tends to get into the nooks and crannies and that's were the problems are most likely to come from.

I stopped sterilising at 1 year and started using tap water then too and haven't had any problems.

Enjoy your holiday :)

love
Marie
