Too hot to swaddle
« on: September 01, 2005, 11:48:20 am »
Currently in the middle of a hot summer and the nursery is often 27 C at night (ok not that hot to those of you in sunnier parts but that is a heat wave in England).  I can not possibly swaddle my dd when she is sweating in a vest.

What is the alternative?

TIA

Hi

I used to swaddle my DD in a piece of light weight cotton material when it was hot. I bought a metre of cotton fabric and hemmed the edges. That worked great because it still kept her feeling swaddled but didn't make her over heat.

HTH

love

I have my 9 week old swaddled in a flat cot sheet, and a vest. If it gets hotter i will swaddle him just in his nappy. He cannot and will not sleep with out being swaddled.

I also used to swaddle in a thin peice of cotton (only I never got around to hemming it  ) and a onsie (not sure if that is similar to what you are all calling a vest).  She was slightly sweaty sometimes, but that was the only way she'd stay asleep.
