Reflux and tomato?
« on: September 06, 2005, 20:12:17 pm »
Hi,
DH and I were discussing if tomato is acutally acidic or not, he says no, I dont eat them so cant say but have heard that they are. I have and extremely fussy dd with reflux but also have seen quite a few nice recipies with tomato plus I would eventually like her to eat pasta and most of our pasta dishes revolve around tomato so just wondering what you think? I did try her with it once, she refused so then I put it in yougurt- I know disgusting but thats how I got her to eat chicken   it didnt work and I didn't try again as am worried about the whole acid thing. Also our paediatrician advised to avoid leafy greens like spinach and cabbage, has anyone had sucess introducing them to a reflux baby and if so how?
Many thanks,
Fiona

Reflux and tomato?

Hi Fiona,
I also have a refluxer, and according to his doc, tomato is a food to be careful with because it is acidic.  We have tried it in small bits here and there, and Nathan doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

Good luck!
