please help with DF question before tonight...
« on: September 06, 2005, 22:30:25 pm »
Hi,

not sure where to post this one.  As result of a short catnap from 3:50-4:20 DS (5 months today!) was put down to sleep at 6:10.  It was all I could do to keep him awake for a 5:30 feed.  He's currently on a 3-3.5 hr EASY while I transition him to 4 hours.  I usually do last feed around 6:30-7:00 (have been battling short naps so sched. is all over the place).

anyhoo, when should I DF him?  9:30 seems way early.  Should I just hope he makes it until 10, and feed him earlier if he wakes?

Also, he just started tummy sleeping today (seems to LOVE it and settles way better).  Anyone have a good technique on how to pick up a tummy sleeper for DF?  And I guess I try to lay him back down like that when done?  This is all new to me and I don't want to disturb him too much.  Sorry if these seems like silly questions.

anyway, when to DF is the main one.

Thanks

Traci

FWIW, that's how I'd do it. If he wakes, he wakes, and unless he makes a habit of the different bedtime, you should be OK.

Trust me, that's not a silly question. Natalie's been a tummy sleeper from Day One and I still wonder sometimes if there's an easier way to get her out of bed for her Dream Feed. Frankly, she usually wakes up regardless, even when I got her out of bed on the rare occasion she was sleeping on her side. I just kept it low-key and she'd basically feed herself back to sleep, and I do lay her back in her crib on her tummy. The two ways I've found that seem to work, depending on what I feel won't bother her, are to either lay her on her side and then gently roll her to her tummy, or to just put her face down as I hold her and ease her back down. Both have worked and both have failed to work from time to time.

HTH! :)
