Hmmm, Nathan is about the same age and he likes cheerios, rice cake pieces, cheese pieces, advocado chunks, banana chunks, buttered waffle pieces, toast, pieces of chicken nugget, green beans, cooked carrot, turkey lunch meat, dried apple bits, etc.

He also loves to eat things from his baby safe feeder, like banana or mango.

Have fun!

I find watermelon is a really good finger food - soft to eat but not too slippery to pick up.  You can also try ripe peaches, plums, thinly sliced apple, well cooked broccoli, cauliflower if he is eating that stuff.  Basically anything as long as it's soft enough, easy to pick up and he's not allergic.  Tofu cubes, meatballs, pancakes, scrambled eggs....etc... :)

finger food ideas

Andrew LOVES canteloupe (sometimes even trumps Cheerios!), I make sure it's very ripe & he's able to gum very well...He also likes grapes (peeled & cut into 1/6's) & cooked whole peas, but not sure if your LO would be ready...?

For slippery (hard to pick up) finger foods, you can try coating w/ baby cereal (oatmeal, barley, rice, etc.)...

Also did well with the mesh teething feeder (good for ice too)...!

Hope that helps, nice to get more ideas for my LO from above posts too...thanks...!

Thank you for the replies.  My DS has started to turn away from me feeding him from a spoon so I was looking for some other finger foods that he might be able to handle.  Right now he eats baby cookies, cheerioes, pieces of cheese and other small things but it's hard to find enough foods that he can chew all the way.  He has 8 teeth but hasn't quite figured out how to chew too well with them.  It's not exactly comfortable to chew with your front teeth anyway.

Thank you so much for the suggestions.

Thank you, I tried some pasta the other day but DS didn't really like it, but I am sure it was only because it was something new.  Everything really is trial and error.  I am always so afraid that he isn't getting enough to eat.

Thanks again.

Hey JROLPH!  Funny how we arrive at the same questions at the same time!  Will mail you newest infor re: MIL BTW.  Do you feed him teething biscuits?  What kind do you use?  Do you make them?

Thanks!
