he is vomitting ..........

is this something i should worry about?

DS is vomitting, not usually straight after food though. it's quite a long time afterwards. he would cough, cough  ... then acts like he has a choke, then vomit .. this evening, he vomits almost the whole bottle of milk after drinking it.

it's happening for the past 2 days.

he doesn't look unwell. he is alert and happy. only thing different i can think of is he is starting to crawl everywhere and will not stay still.

has he got upset tummy? how can you tell? his poo poo is ok too.

Sorry to hear about your mess, my little one is a little smaller; just five months and I went though and am going though the same things at the moment. SAbout 10 days ago she started vomiting up some feeds during the day, usually the feeds which were just milk; sometimes straight away and at others up to 2 hours after. It seemed like the milk never even hit her stomach i.e. no curdeled milk. I could live with that but then she started puking up every night after her bottle. The general consensus was that there was nothing to worry about as she was thriving, pooh ok etc... I think the crawling certainly has something to do with it, I think he milk migh just be too light for lack of a better word. I have started thickening her night bottle with rice ( first time last night) and it worked, I am going to change to a thicker formula if this continues to be successful.

Give it a little time; try going back to a slower flow teat, that helped me to, perhaps limit physical activity straight after eating ( not relevant at night I know!!!!) if it does not get better obviously go see a doctor. I wa\s reluctant since it is normal for babies to throw up and I seem to be able to manage it at home plus they are all desperate to put babies on meds which i did not want. If it does not get better I will have to though.

Sorry that Samuel is having trouble keeping things down.  My LO has Delayed Gastric Emptying.  It is where the stomache empties slowly.  With normal digestion, the stomache is mostly emptied within 1 hr.  With DGE, kids will vomit hours later, and the milk is usually undigested.  I would probably mention it to your doctor....  If he does have some emptying difficulties, meds can help, but if it is not effecting his weight or contributing to pain, there are feeding changes that might help instead.  Also, they usually outgrow it in the first couple years...
