8 month old waking at night from hunger
« on: September 13, 2005, 11:45:03 am »
I'm quite sure she's waking because of hunger since the wake times are random.

I nurse her at 7am, 11am, 3pm, and 7pm.  I also feed her solids 1 hr after each nursing except the 7pm feed. She nurses for 30 min ( I have been giving her both breasts because she's so hungry). As far as solids she eats 3 -4oz of veggies or fruit.  I haven't given her cereal or meat yet, but I'm, wondering if I need to. I also haven't been ending the solids with nursing like Tracy says in book one.........or is that just at the beginning when you are introducing solids. Should I be increasing her solids? My former super night sleeper is exhausting me. BTW she just started crawling so that is also a factor to consider. HELP

Okay, my ds is a bit younger than your daughter, but I give him cereal and fruit as his 'supper' because I think that the cereal is more filling. And then I nurse him after that.

And as you mention, it could be developmental too.

I hope my ramblings have helped a bit.

Hi Joanne,
The night wakiing could definitely be developmental due to the crawling.  But in case it is related to hunger, I would probably up her solids, if she will take it.  I would absolutely give her cereal.  It is really important as a source of iron (unless she is formula fed).  For solids, I keep feeding my LO until I get a cue from him, like turning his head or throwing food on the floor.      Good luck!

I would definitely offer some cereal.  Mix it with EBM if possible - the taste will be familiar, and she'll get extra calories from the milk.
