how much sleep should an 18 month old have, my dd is fighting her daytime naps now, i'm just wondering should i forget them altogher?

Definitely don't skip them. At 18 months, she's not ready for no naps. Just be consistent. Put her in for a set limit every single day (say an hour) and sooner than later she'll be sleeping fine.
