Hi
Just wanted someone to look at my naptime routine and tell me what you think. We've been doing this for about 3 weeks.
He stays awake anywhere between 45 minutes to one hour. At his first yawn, we go in, close the blinds, turn on fan and I walk with him while singing a quiet song until he is drowsy. I then put him in the crib on his tummy and pat until either a) he is drowsy enough to go off on his own, or b) he goes to sleep. Sometimes he's too wound up to go off on his own, but he always goes to sleep with patting. I never have to pick him up or do pu/pd. He will wake up at one hour to the minute but all I have to do is go in, pat a couple of times and he goes back to sleep for another 45 minutes to an hour. So each nap is about 1.75 - 2 hrs generally.
So here's my question. When do you think he will stop waking at that hour mark and make it back into deep sleep on his own? Is patting becoming a prop? It was really different with Canyon because nothing worked to extend his naps so I gave up. Christian however is really easy to extend but I don't want to make him dependent on the pat.
What do you think?
?
TIA!!
