3 monthsTeething???? causing night wakings??????????????????
« on: September 15, 2005, 10:00:23 am »
Ds has been waking in the night for the past two weeks, i thought it was due to not having enough ounces during the day as he has been fussing with his bottle, i took him to see the Health Visitor today as he was having his injections, i mentioned his night wakings and she said he could be teething! What ages were yours when they started teething? as you can see from my ticker he is only a week over three months. He is sucking on his fist a lot and dribbling but in Tracys book she says this is just thier saliva glands forming. Ds was sleeping through until 7am but now i am in and out oif his room from 3am onwards. xx

My dd started teething at about this age and had her first tooth at almost 4 months. Maybe try some pain relief at night?

My ds started teething at about 10 weeks and got his first tooth through by 4 months.  He is now onto number 7 and he's not yet 8 months!  Wondering if he'll have a full set by time he's one!  They do seem to get easier with each one though.

The main symptoms we experienced with ds were:
1. Just waking in the middle of the night crying (very unlike Daniel beforehand).  We reckon it must just be from pain.
2.  CONSTANTLY chewing anything and everything he can get hold of.  Because he started teething before he had really learnt to be able to hold something in his mouth we would do it for him!  I noticed that whereas before he would have sucked when I put my finger in his mouth he all of a sudden would just bite!
3.  Red cheeks and LOTS of dribble.
4.  Generally quite unsettled and easily upset by things through day.

Daniel is a big hungry baby and although some say that teething affects their eating / drinking we never found this to be the case.  Not yet anyway.

With the tooth coming through at the moment we now give him some infant paracetomol before he goes to bed and that def seems to help.

HTH,

Hazel

PS my friend works in a chemist.  She said a mum came in yesterday with her 2 month old daughter who had just got her first tooth through!!  Wow.
