What to do when clocks go back in October?
« on: September 15, 2005, 10:32:24 am »
Im reeeeeeally worried about this, my DS going to start waking at 4.30am when they go back - what does everyone else do when this happens?  Should i try to adjust his bodyclock now?  He currently goes to bed at 6.30pm should i keep him up until 7.30pm?  I know the book says there isnt much you can do about a babies bodyclock and keeping them up later means they will still wake at the same time each morning but surely something can be done to adjust it by one hour?
Any thoughts?

Hi Hana-

you can try moving him now in 15 min increments at night, but it is true you will just have to wait it out and see if his clock adjusts for the new am.  In the Spring it took my dd about one week to make the switch.  Treat 4:30 like a night feed for as long as possible until he is back to normal.  He might surprise you!

Biologically speaking...

Get them up at the same time, put them to bed at the same time.

This may take some adjusting, and branwen is right, see if his internal clock adjusts for the new am first. If not, she has a great idea.
