Using EASY for a 9 month Old
« on: September 16, 2005, 22:08:25 pm »
Hi,

I have just read both of Tracy's books for infants in an effort to solve some sleep issues I was having with my 9 month old.  We used PU/PD with great success but I am a little confused with how to put her on the EASY schedule.  She is breastfed and is eating 3 solid meals a day.  In the book it says that I should have her on the strict 4 hour routine but, I don't know how the breastfeeding and solids work into that.  Are they to be done together every 4 hours?  I don't think she would be interested in Breastfeeding right after she ate her solids (she is a very good solids eater).

I have been doing my observing for the last two days and was hoping to start on the strict routine (as per the book) in the next day or two.  HELP!

Emma's Mom-
My DD is 91/2 months. If you read the Oct  to Dec 04 thread you will see other childern about the same age and if you look on pages 69 to 71 you will see some samples of various easy schedules

Hi!  At 9 mos, most babies have a routine that looks more like EAEASY, with bottle or breastmilk offered after waking up, and solids about an hour later.  Like Ange said, the sample schedule thread has some good ideas!   :)

So does that mean even though it will be the first time she is on a 'schedule' that it doesn't necessarily have to be the strict 4 hour as detailed on page 34 as long as I am consistent and exact with my times for the first week or so?

There is some flexibility what is strict is the order things are done. Eat then activity then sleep. Times will vary a little day to day. For example, she may eat a little more or sleep a little less. At this age you can't expect to get two two hour naps every day.
