Yogurt is okay for babies 6 mo or older. I skipped the jarred meats as well. They just freaked me out. I waited to introduce meats until Tyler could eat a little cut up piece of tender meat...more like 1 yr, I think. I didn't worry too much about his protein intake until we dropped formula at 1 yr, but I did introduce other protein foods before then, like yogurt, cheese, beans, and tofu (at the age appropriate times) just in case he didn't like meat later.
