7.5 months and up at 11, 2, 4 for feed
« on: September 17, 2005, 23:10:48 pm »
So our baby, is a pretty good sleeper and we've been doing EASY since he was born. Now he seems to have settled into a pattern that is not terrible, but not great either.

We put him down at 7pm and he wakes at around 10:30 to be rocked and patted down quickly (five minutes). He does the same thing at about midnight and 2. Sometimes he skips one of those. He wakes between 3-4, gets a bottle, then sleeps until 7 or 7:30.

It's a lot of broken sleep for us, and it isn't continuous for him. We think he might have just become used to this pattern and keeps doing it because it is what he knows.

We're wondering what we need to do to get him going solid through the night.

We've also gone back to swaddling him, because, well, because it seemed to work better for awhile. I think we're going to drop that soon though.

any advice?

hi, it's tough getting through the night disturbances and it means you're not sleeping solid either.
couple of questions though
1. what is dd's typical day? naps,  bedtime routine, etc...
2. does he have a pacifier?
3. are you bf or is it bottle?
4. is there a reason he is having a night feed or is it just part of his routine? weight gain, etc...

let me know and i'll see if i can help

The baby is 7 and a half months.

He's a bf baby who has been weaned and is now on formula and some solids.

He has a morning nap at about 9-10 for an hour. He then has a 1-2 hour nap at about 2, sometimes 3, sometimes 1.

During the day he eats about every three hours and he is to sleep by 8.

He has a little playtime, then a change of clothes and a rock down.

We wrap him, give him a pacifier, bounce him until he has half eyes, lay him down, give him some pats on the chest and he is out.

At night when he starts crying we pick him up and rock him down ending with a few pats.

He doesn't seem to care too much about the pacifier. He sometimes gets to sleep faster with it but he will also go down without it.

the late feed is only because he seems like he wants it. That cry is like a hunger cry so we feed him then. It's the only reason.
