My lo is only 4 weeks old and is suffering with reflux...some one suggested adding baby rice to his milk to thicken it up...but is this ok at such a young age..I know what my hv would say..

There was a post exactly the same recently for adding rice to formula at this early age.

Hope that helps

There is a reflux board where you will get some excellent information on how to help your baby with reflux.

if you are in the uk,yes you're health visitor would give you a lecture!we went through this but ds was older and we thought we would try it but to be honest it didn't help.it wasn't untill he went on medication that thing improved.i think the reason they are against it is that if it's thicker going down it works the same way up and therefore may cause choking!gaviscon is a milk thickner and this worked for us whilst ds was on 4 milk feeds but then as we cut bottles we had to put him on zantac.

We thickened per the Ped and specialists instructions at around 6 weeks.  It helped his reflux tremendously.  But each baby is different, so definitely check with your doctor.
