spitting up!
« on: September 19, 2005, 08:21:26 am »
hi there, my ds spits up after most bottles, sometimes up to hours after!
weve tried sitting him upright, lying him down, winding every 2oz. sometimes he is so greedy and guzzles and slurps as if hes starving! iv tried to calm him down by shushing, singing, whispering, we even sit on our own in quiet to feed!
any one got any tips? thank god for wooden floors but its so embarrassing if its elsewhere!!!

Hi Julie

When you say he spits up how much are we talking.....if it's just little bits then it could just be posseting (when they spit up little bits of cottage cheese looking stuff) which is normal. If it's quite a lot then it could be a reflux problem. If it is a lot try putting a post in the Colic/Reflux forum to see what advice the ladies there can give you.

hi marie,
ta 4 replying.
sometimes it is just posseting then other times it is quite a lot. it doesnt smell like vomit but like fresh milk and it doesnt disturb him in any way.
if it was colic or reflux wud he be upset or not always?

Hi Julie

I'm afraid I don't have much experience with reflux but I seem to recall from reading other peoples posts that it doesn't necessarily cause pain all the time (I think it's called silent reflux when that happens). The ladies in the reflux forum all have experience of this and I'm sure that can give you some advice.

love
Marie
