demoralized and exasperated
« on: September 20, 2005, 09:47:36 am »
I'm an Italian mother and I make excuses myself for my better English.  My son, Tommaso, has 7 months and means, From approximately 1 month, with the introduction of the evening baby food, he has problems to sleep the night.  Wide awake crying every 2 hours!!!  In order to sleep it wants the breast, or cries like crazy!!!

I'm so demoralized and exasperated

your english is just fine.  you managed to let us know what your problem is clearly and lots of us couldn't do that in another language, congradulations!

its hard to know what to advise you because in England we aren't advised to give babies any food other than breastmilk or formula for 6 months (never earlier than 17 weeks).  my son has never tried anything but breastmilk and has that in the evening too.  hopefully someone else with an older child will be of more help than me, my son is younger than yours.  good luck!

Hi Mav,
Yes could you let us know what you are feeding him in the evening and at what time, how long before bed time? and maybe someone can help.

Actually on a different subject I would like to take advantage as I was wondering the other day what Mamas in Italy give their babies for breakfast at a young age?( solid food I mean) Asked dh but he doesnt know, just curiosity if you dont mind.

I alternate the cream to the mixed cereals with that one of rice, semolino of grain and rice maize and tapioca.  Of usual  I make the cream with the cheese for baby or with ricotta (annealed fresh??? :?: ).  He eats to 19.00, takes a bath to the 20,00 and he sleep to 21,00.

He wide awake every 2 hours crying itself but not for hunger.
If he attacks to the breast, he sleep in 10/15 minutes

Ciao Mav,
I think cheese can be very hard to digest in the evening which may be causing your problems. Try some fruit and rice maybe and as Jayne says check with your paediatrician. Could he be teething already as well?Let us know if you have any other questions.
