6 month old BF issues

I still nurse my dd about 5 times per day this goes with 3 solid feeds, breakfast, lunch and dinner.  she nurses before she gets solids, but she won't nurse very long, this distress me, i don't know if she is getting enough to eat???  I know at this age they are very efficient nursers i am just wondering if she is starting to wean herself, she loves her solids and nurses well in the morning at at night but during the day she nurses anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes no longer and only takes one breast. I have always had a very good supply so i am wondering if this is something i should worry about or not????  she is now 14 pounds and the ped isn't worried about her growth so am i just panicking?  thanks

~oh for her dreamfeed at 11pm she takes a bottle of either breastmilk or formula, and will take about 6 ounces, which i really don't think she gets that much when she nurses.

It's unlikely that a baby will self-wean at 6 months, so I wouldn't worry about that.  As long as you keep giving milk first before solids, she shouldn't fill up too much on them and not get enough milk (unless you're really giving big portions - for the first year, solids are more for practice than for real eating...).  During the day, she is likely just more distractible, so eats less - 5-15 min sounds fine though. With respect to the 6 oz, babies eat about the same amount of breastmilk at every feed at 6 months as they do at 1 month (different from formula!) - so even if she's eating less per feed during the day, she's likely getting enough.

Wouldn't it be nice if we all had clear, calibrated breasts so we didn't need to worry about how much our little ones get? I worry each time Arwyn doesn't nurse for at least 10 minutes!

its stressful, sometimes she won't even eat her afternoon feeding, just dosen't want to nurse, then i end up trying to nurse her an hour or two later and screw up the schedule!

How often are you nursing her?  Is it possible that she's not hungry in the afternoon because it just hasn't been long enough after lunch?  She also just might be going through a phase and it could change too!

she nurses every 4 hours, it seems to change daily, her nursing habits, today was better, I haven't been giving her so much solids, I thnk sometimes she is hungary, sometimes she is not, I know babies eat and will let you know when they are really hungary but its still worrysome :)

So much to worry about as a parent, I'm finding!  Probably good to cut down a bit on the solids if it's interfering with the amount of milk she's taking in.  Solids aren't really that important other than for practice in the first year.

I have been trying that the last couple of days and i think its working, although she is getting me up again in the middle of the night, I don't know if thats due to going thru a 6 month growth spurt, teething or something else.

You know, so much of this parenting thing seems to be trial and error!  You try one thing, and if it doesn't work, move on to the next.
