Help, we are going backwards!!
« on: September 22, 2005, 17:03:42 pm »
Hi there - Mads is 19 months and cutting her eye teeth at the moment - boy, they are the worst by far   She is pretty much not wanting to eat anything and so as you can imagine, she has started waking in the night, well 5am wanting milk.

We have my BIL over from England at the moment and whilst I was working on getting her to sleep until 6.30/7am without giving her milk, since he has been here for the past few days and I don't want her to wake him, we have started giving her a DF again at about 11ish

Its worked for the past few nights and she has slept through - I figure if I am able to do this, whilst also trying to get more calories into her in the day, then when I am happy she is getting enough, I can see how she gets on without DF and do PU/PD to get her off to sleep if need be...however, I am very aware with how much we have regressed over the past week and would love some input as to whether we are even doing the right thing??

My main aim would be to cut right back on the milk she is having anyway and just feed her breakfast when she gets up - but she just won't eat at the moment and follows me round asking for milk

Help ladies - I feel like I am in a right pickle at the moment

My dd #2 is 20 months old and eats strip cheese, weetabix, fishcakes and mash. She has milk in the morning and at bedtime. She asks for milk during the day quite a lot and sometimes I'll give a drink of cold milk in a glass and she seems quite satisfied.Ican't get her off the bottle for morning and night milk though
she always has breakfast first otherwise I know she won't eat if she has milk first. And she always wakes up at between 6-6.30am.But then she goes to bed at 6.30pm.She doesn't wake during the night now (thanks to you wonderful ladies her).
I would say don;t worry about your BIL if she wakes him she wakes him.
I really wouldn't worry about the not eating. If she likes mash, try mixing some butternut squash or pumpkin in ( just boil with spuds). You can also mix in a cheese triangle.
Good luck

Hi Dee,

when my dd was teething and not eating I used to give her little bits throughout the day like yoghurt and cheese or satsumas (all of which she loved and wern't too hard on her gums!) to make up for the fact that she wasn't eating her 3 square meals.  You could try just offering her snacks through the day as this may help until her teeth come through.

Like sarah said I wouldn't worry about her waking up your BIL, I mean he is staying in your house and he knows you have a LO.  Does she have a bedtime bottle/beaker at all...how about increasing the amount a little to see of that will sustain her through the night.

I hope the teething is over soon :?
