My 8 week old is sleeping through the night but the last 3 nights she has been "tooting" around 5:30am.  She isn't crying, just grunting and squirming around a lot, coming unswaddled.  Her gas is very explosive like, is this normal?  The first night I just put my hand on her chest to keep her calm so she didn't wake up but the last two nights I didn't go to her right away to see if she'd be fine without me.  She didn't cry but didn't ever calm down and slept very fitfully until 8 (her normal wake up time).  I don't want her to get into the habit of waking at night, what should I do?

Blimy an eight week old sleeping through sounds to me like you are doing a fab job hun ( Is there a jelous emoticon!! LOL )
Babys go though various stages of being unsettled at night sometimes its a growth spurt other times they do it for no reasons at all
Does your Lo wind well after the last feed b4 bed. Ive noticed with my lo that if it doesnt come out the top end it goes through and we get a windy explosion sometime later at the other - with a bit of tummy pain i should think.

My dd did this around this age, too.  Except, it was almost all night.  She would grunt and lift her legs, causing the swaddle to come undone.  Our ped recommended anti-gas drops (simethicone, called Mylicon in the US) after every bottle/bf.  It sure did help, and we stopped after a month or so I believe.  HTH

Absolutely second the simethicone!

We have used in every bottle!

Oh, yeah, I still drop a bit into each bottle to cut down the foam.

I've been using the drops occasionally but wasn't sure if they actually worked or not.  Guess I'll keep trying em.  Thanks for the tips.
