3 month old - sleep issues
« on: September 23, 2005, 18:38:42 pm »
Hello just joined today as I watch the baby whisperer on tv and am interested in her views. I have ordered the books and awaiting their arrival. However I would appreciate some help with the sleep issue. My 3 month old dd wont go to sleep on her own either at night or during the day. I have to cussle her during the day and then when I put her down she normally wakes up. At night we have to stroke her nose and be with her till she sleeps as she has her dummy and normally spits it out and screams for it. Some people say leave her to cry (which I find upsetting) and others say dont pick her up so confused

Help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks

She doesnt like to be swaddled but she does sleep in a sleeping bag.  It took a while to get her used to that though as before she kept kicking covers off.  She goes nuts if she is swaddled though.

check out this link on pat/shhh - you are right on the border with a 3-month old, but it may work (worked on my ds till close to 5 months!)

be prepared to spend lots of time with her at sleeping times at first.  she will only learn as a result of your being completely consistent.

there are also more details in the sleep interview:

Many Thanks for that.  Will try that method and fingers crossed!!  Saying that though she has gone down tonight really quite easily and only been crying when her dummy falls out.  Hopefully this is the way to go.  :D
