Still lactating?
« on: September 25, 2005, 21:53:55 pm »
For those of you who have ceased breastfeeding, how long did you still secrete fluid from your breasts?
I stopped bfing at the end of june (so we've been done for 3 months now) and it still seems like I'm lactating.
I'm wondering if my thyroid issues are really pituitary gland issues, which can cause an increase in prolactin.

Any words of advice? Should I talk to my Dr?
Thanks!

I think it is normal to lactate even longer after weaning. I know a lot of women still lactate 6 months after quitting. I guess you don't produce much anymore, just a few drops, perhaps?

Yeah, like I don't feel myself let down necessarily (like when you 'fill up'). It just seemed strange still but that's good to hear that it  may be normal.
