3 naps to 2 - how/when?
« on: September 28, 2005, 01:10:07 am »
ok i'm starting to wonder if micah's wacky schedule is due to trying to drop a nap. ( i hope i hope!)

some days he does a great 1.5-2 hr morning nap, same for afternoon, and 45 min catnap.

other days like today, he does 3 X 45 min naps.

then there are the dark days, when he does a 45 min morning nap, a 45 min afternoon nap, and then bedtime

his usual A time is 2hrs 15 min. but he resists naps a lot more these days, especially the catnap. but he gets overtired and hard to put down very easily. how do i do this transition? thanks!

3 naps to 2 - how/when?

Hi

Here are the general tips:

Tracy’s says 6 months I believe, but we didn’t drop until 7-8mos.

Your schedule will look something like this:
7am wakes up - stays awake for 2.5 hours (sometimes 3)
9:30/10am - 1st nap
11/11:30am wakes up and stays awake for 3 hours
2/2:30pm - 2nd nap
3:30/4pm wakes up

As he/she doesn't wake from her second nap until 3:30/4 that means she can now last without a catnap until bedtime at 7/7:30pm.

So gradually increase A time - 15min every 3 days.

Hope this helps.
