EASY baby changing sleep patterns since solids introduced
« on: September 30, 2005, 18:19:15 pm »
Hi

I posted this on EAT and had no response - I guess I may have been on the wrong board!

My DD is an Angel baby and has been on EASY right from the start - I studied it when pregnant.

It has worked very well.  She was doing:

Wake and Milk: 7.30
Fruit/Rice 8.15
Sleep - 9-10.30
Milk - 11.30
Lunch - 12.15
Sleep - 12.45-14.15
Milk - 15.00
Sleep - 16.00-17.00
Milk - veg 17.00
17.30/18.00 Bath
Milk - 19.00 and bed
She would then wake around 9.30/10pm for more milk and then sleep through until the morning.

I was more than happy with the above schedule and she is very contented baby.

In the last week though, she has been grumpy having her milk at 7pm.  Going to bed having only drunk 3 oz and then woken at 8pm for another 5 oz or so and then sleeping through.  I guess she is dropping her dream feed which is nice.  Should I just carry on letting her call the shots on this or try to merge the two feeds?  Any tips?  I wondered if she was too full from her dinner at 5pm but even if I drop that meal, she still fusses at the 7pm feed.

Also, she has shortened her lunch time nap to 45 mins and increased her afternoon nap to 1 hr 30 (3.30-5pm).  Again, is this OK?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

x

How old is your little one?

Everything sounds okay for her meals, typically the bedtime feed amount does decrease with the introduction of solids.

I'll check back for your response.

Hi Jane

She is nearly six months old but very big for her age.  At 20 weeks she weighed 17pounds11 and measured 70cms.

Do you think the naps are OK?

Also, do you think she'll just merge the dreamfeed?  Tonight she drank about 6 oz went to bed at 7pm and then woke up for the remaining 3 oz at 8pm.  It's nearly 23.30 her and she has not woken up again so I think as this is the third night running that she has just brought forward the dream feed to 8pm!

Thanks for your time and advice.

Just noticed a typo in my post - she only has veg at 17.00 not milk.  I used to give her water with that meal but she just cut back even more at 7pm and drank more at 8pm.

Should I be giving liquid with the solids?

Thanks again
