At what age should a baby no longer have a bottle at all? Also, can it be harmful to their teeth if they remain on a bottle for too long?

In Canada they say that baby should be done with bottles by 12-18 months.  We stopped at 12 months and it was a pretty easy transition.

Itook away DS's naptime bottle at 18 months. He was drinking less & less so it was time to do it.

Thanks, is there a reason for this, other than being good for independence?

It's normally advised to stop bottles by around 1 year in UK.  It can be bad for your lo's teeth, especially if they take a bottle to bed with them.  Giving bottles can also result in your lo drinking too much milk which can put your lo off solids which are more important now. My dd was off bottles by around 14 months with relatively no problems. She will now take milk out of any cup - non-spill, open, with a straw, etc, etc
