3 months and still cluster feeding??
« on: October 01, 2005, 22:00:47 pm »
I need some advice.  My 3 month old son has been cluster feeding at 6 and 8pm and going to bed around 8:30.  ( I do a dreamfeed around 10:30)  I didn't realize I was supposed to stop the cluster feedings at 8 weeks.  I'm wondering if it's ok to just quit the cluster feedings cold turkey and start a 7:30 bedtime or what??  He's been sleeping through the night and I'm wondering if this is going to totally throw him off.
Any advice would be great!!
Thanks!

I think that cluster feeding advice may have been directed more at bottlefeeders. Breastfed babies will sleep much better if they have their cluster feeds. Keep on cluster feeding until your baby refuses, then you know it is time to change the schedule around.

It's always great to hear another breastfed baby is sleeping through!  :D

I wouldn't stop now - if it's going well, don't worry about following ANY book!  I think we cluster-fed until around 5 months, and dropped it after starting solids (to make up the calorie needs).
