Will not nap in bed
« on: October 03, 2005, 17:08:26 pm »
Help!! I cannot get my 11wk old to nap anywhere other than his swing. If I put him in his bed, he awakens within 30min. He sleep in his bed fine at night. He goes down at 9-9:30pm and sleeps till 2:30-3am for fdg, then until 5:30-6:30. Righ now, he takes one long nap b/w 12-3pm, after his 12pm fdg. He only goes 3hrs b/w fdgs.

Any advise would help!!

He may have a sleep association with the swing, with the motion.  The motion of the swing can induce sleepiness, while motionless naps tend to be a little more tricky for young infants.. they tend to wake up at the each partial awakening (10, 20, 30 mins. of the sleep cycle).

Take a look at the Newborn and sleep thread.. lots of strategies for teaching sleep to Newborns, as well Tracy's new book is excellent for learning how sleep.

Every 3 hours is okay!  A lot depends on your child's body weight, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Hope this helps!
