Flailing legs - help!
« on: October 04, 2005, 06:44:39 am »
Ive just started the easy plan (today!). Anyway, Ive mastered swaddling to stop baby's arms flailing but his legs are still going crazy! Its like someone playing drums in the bedroom at 5am! Any one have any tips on how to stop this? Im only using a normal sqaure blanket to swaddle and no other bedding. Bubs is 11 weeks old.

Thanks!

Have you tried a larger sheet?  Maybe use half of a twin sheet or sew two receiving blankets together.  Also, if the leg thumping is not disrupting his his ability to stay/fall back asleep, then I wouldn't worry about it.  He is probably practicing his new found skill.  These middle of the night practice sessions will happen everytime he learns a new skill.  HTH

Mimi's idea is great- go larger so you can tuck it tighter.  Is the failing waking your lo?  My dd still pounds the mattress and it is just her way of settling herself.  At that age we thought she was going to break the matress  it was so loud, but when we went it we actually would scare her- she was doing it in her sleep!!!
