Growth spurt = more sleep?
« on: October 09, 2005, 20:57:10 pm »
I don't know if Zoe is having a growth spurt or not (9.5months) but she has wanted to sleep ALL day today...with feeding being normal, doesn't seem overly hungry.

She woke at 7:00

Napped 9:30-11:00
12:30-2:00
3:20-still going??

She usuallly naps 9-9:45
1:00- 3:30 give or take....

Anyone else have this happen???   Not that I'm complaining....unless of course she doesn't sleep tonight

....she is teething too...hmmm...

Peter always sleeps more when teething or during a growth spurt.

Growth spurts always happen AFTER the feeding frenzy, during which time naps pretty much go out the window. So after the time when she seems to need more feeding than normal, they usually sleep quite a bit in order to do the actual growing. Growth only happens during sleepy time.

So growth spurts are kind of a mixed blessing...

I noticed the following pattern with my ds.

Just prior to growth spurt, he seems to sleep less.
Naps are shorter, night sleep also shorter.

Then his sleep (naps and bedtime) extend by about an hour or 1.5 hours.
I think this is when he does the actual growing.

Then after the growth spurt he seems to eat really well (i.e. way less fussy about what he eats and will often finish his meals rather than being done after 2 bites) and sleep returns to normal.
