Time to finish breast at 14 months?
« on: October 10, 2005, 02:15:25 am »
Hi there

Not sure if I am posting in the rihgt place, but here goes.

My 14 month old has been showing signs of weaning himself off the breast. He still has 2 feeds a day (morning and night) and a cup of milk at afternoon tea (around 3:30, up to 230mL). Last couple of nights been refusing night feed. Seems to drink a little bit at morning feed, but I don't think it amounts to much.

He also has ~100mL milk in cereal and eats cheese everyday and yoghurt just about every day. He drinks a lot of water as well (about 230mL)

I was thinking of dropping the night feed and giving milk with dinner instead of water. And later dropping the morning feed and giving milk with breakfast.

Will this be enough milk do you think?

Thanks,
Bek

The general guideline for milk is 16-24 oz per day. Like you said, not all of that has to be actual milk...yogurt and cheese count too. 1/2 cup of yogurt or a 1 inch cube of cheese each count as 4 ounces of milk, so it sounds like he's on the right track! :D
