Don't know what to do!!! Please help
« on: October 12, 2005, 08:16:06 am »
My lo has always been taking naps relatively easy. But yesterday, I had a fight on my hands.  She has cried non-stop when I lay her on the swaddling blanket and put her in her cot.  She has never done this.  She is 16 weeks maybe that is the cause of it.  I am transitioning her onto a 4hr EASY maybe that is the cause of it. I don't know.  But that is upsetting me. I am following it through, but I am scared that she is going to get afraid of her cot, because she is crying so much.  She fights me when I hold her. She falls asleep utterly exhausted. By the time she does that, she is only going to have 45 mins - 1hr sleep time before her next feed.  I stay with her until she falls asleep.

I follow the same rountine all the while and she is so happy, but the moment I lay her on the swaddling blanket and say you are tired because I have seen you yawn and we are now going to bed,  everything lets loose.

I have tried one arm out of the swaddle, unswaddling her completely. Nothing seems to help.

Have any of you experienced the same. How do I get through this? Is this just a phase?   :(

How did today go?  Did it continue?

Infants will have their off days, when everything goes a little wonky.  If it continues, and it's completely not like her, then I would go through a bit of a checklist--

1. Illness-- ear infections, colds.. etc
2. Growth spurt
3. Dev. Milestone
4. Change in routine, home life, rituals.

When these days happen, give lots of TLC, and lots of support and comfort.  If it continues on, then look at making some changes.

Thanks for the advice.  She still like it, I think is Development changes as she is doing so much more.  I'll see how it goes.
